Dr. Thomas K. Johnson

Dr. Thomas Johnson, a long-term research vice president at Martin Bucer School of Theology, is senior advisor to the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) Theological Commission, International Institute for Religious Freedom, and Office of Intrafaith and Interfaith Relations. In 2016, he was named the WEA Special Envoy to the Vatican to promote joint efforts on human rights and religious freedom.

Dr. Johnson, who holds a PhD in ethics as well as a seminary degree, has taught philosophy or theology at eleven institutes of higher learning in nine countries, including the dissident, anticommunist European Humanities University in Minsk, Belarus (now in exile in Lithuania) and Charles University in Prague. He is a member of the Royal Ghassanid Academy of Arts and Sciences; board president of the Comenius Institute (Prague); an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America; and a fellow of Global Scholars.
