Deerfield, IL – November 18, 2019
In a simple ceremony at the WEA General Assembly in Bogor City, Indonesia on November 11th, a ministry partnership between WEA and the United Bible Societies (UBS) had been formalized.
Bp Efraim Tendero, WEA Secretary General, said at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), “We are so grateful for this partnership with United Bible Societies. UBS has the mandate of translating, publishing, distributing and engaging the Bible. WEA, on the other hand, is able to provide the network of national evangelical alliances in more than 130 countries around the world to work with UBS, particularly for 2020 which we have jointly declared as the Global Year of the Bible.”
UBS, a worldwide network of Bible societies in 200 countries and territories, was represented by Rev. Gunnar Mägi, Church Relations Manager. He said, “It is time to join forces in preparing for strategic activities and structure in enhancing and fulfilling the work of our organizations in pursuit of the Great Commission.”

Over two billion Christians in the world today are represented by three world church bodies. The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) is one of those, serving more than 600 million evangelicals. Launched in 1846 to unite evangelicals worldwide, the WEA continues to be a dynamic movement with 7 regional and 129 national Evangelical Alliances, and over 150 member organizations. WEA’s mission is to establish and strengthen regional and national Evangelical Alliances, who in turn enable their national Church to advance the Good News of Jesus Christ and effect personal and community transformation for the glory of God.
